I live in Shanghai and i recently haven't been able to get onto minetown.net without a vpn. whats with this is minetown.net suddenly blocked in China?

Maybe. China does sort of have a well established reputation for that.

Try using the IP MT.GG or try connecting directly to a server by putting its name before it, like prison.MT.GG or agharta.Mt.GG

Otherwise, I will direct sawine toward this and see if there is any issue with our data center blocking china...IDK

EDIT: update, I have looked it up, and it appear that it is,I guess the Chinese government blocks a lot of sites, because there is a website for it...
